3rd South Beach Photomarathon

Fotomission and Tropicolor joined forces again to present the 3rd South Beach Photomarathon. The event took place on Sunday, March 18, 2007, and attracted an interesting mix of student, amateur and professional photographers.

Graced by a clear blue sunny day and cool temperatures, thirty-eight very enthusiastic participants signed-in at the Starbucks on Ocean Drive and 14th Court, where they were given their first two topics to photograph; opulence and appetizing. The contest started at noon, with most of the participants walking, others riding their bicycles and some even driving in search of their inspiration. At the second and third stations they were given the remaining topics; abstract, black & white, fashion and creative self-portrait. The photomarathon ended at 4:00PM at Tropicolor on Alton Road where they downloaded their images or turned in their film. From there, many headed to Cafeteria on Lincoln Road for a “happy hour” and an interesting exchange of the day’s events. The room was filled with the creative energy of a fun-filled day.

The winners of the 3rd South Beach Photomarathon were awarded on March 30th. There were prizes for the best three overall photographers, as well as for the best photograph for each topic. The best photos of each participant will be on display at Tropicolor’s gallery space from March 30 to April 30.

We all had a great time and hope you will join us next year.
