Fotomission and The Miami Children's Museum are proud to present "The Waiting", a collaborative exhibition by nine Miami photographers that are hoping to bring about positive changes in an area where they are much needed.

Thirty-six children that are currently up for adoption are the subjects of this exhibition. This effort is intended not only to put a face on the issue of adoption in Florida and elsewhere, but also create an opportunity for empathy and connection. Often, these youths, generally over the age of nine, are shrugged aside with the justification that they will soon be out on their own. It is important to know that they need families too; they need somebody to turn to with their concerns as well as their joys. Finding homes for these children is the ultimate goal of this project.

In each portrait the photographer has captured an expression of the innermost
character of the child. Their personal style, gestures and facial expressions reveal their personality.

We hope this exhibition touches your heart, that you reflect on it, and speak of it. There are many kind people among us, and if they become aware, great changes are possible.
