The Waiting...
Faces of Hope
2005:

Fotomission, in collaboration with Kids Hope United, His House Children’s Home and the Miami Children’s Museum, and with the generous support of its sponsors, is proud to present "The Waiting: Faces of Hope 2005".

This is the second annual exhibition by a group of socially conscious Miami photographers that are hoping to make a difference in an area where positive change is much needed.

Thirty-seven children that are currently up for adoption are the subjects of this exhibition. They represent the many children in the foster care system. Mostly over the age of nine, these children are often not considered by families seeking to adopt.
“The Waiting” seeks to put a face on the issue of adoption in Florida and elsewhere, and to create an opportunity for the public to empathize with the children and connect with those who are trying to help them. The ultimate goal of this project is to find safe and nurturing places for these children; places they can call home.

In each touching portrait the photographer has captured an expression of the innermost character of the child. Their personal style, gestures and facial expressions allow us glimpses into their souls.

We hope this exhibition touches your heart, and that you will reflect on it and speak of it, for with a little caring we can all make a difference.
