Cultural Expressions
Santurce
by Adam Greenfader
This is Santurce, Puerto Rico. It is a society and city in disrepair. This work is about how values in Santurce are a reflection of its infrastructure…poor. We are poor not so much in the money in our accounts, but in our loss of hope and faith... We have stopped caring about others, about our streets, about our future generations. The vision is of despair and a grim reality for all of us to observe.
It is my desire through this work to help others see. To help others go back into the city and drive by the neighborhood, to look at the walls and buildings, but mostly just to believe.
Adam Greenfader was born in Mexico City and has lived in San Juan, Puerto Rico for 20 years, where he is part of many community programs centered on assisting urban youth.
