4to Fotomaratón de South Beach
El domingo, 20 de abril, Fotomission y Tropicolor presentaron el 4to Fotomaratón de South Beach en el Jardín Botánico de Miami Beach.
Ciento cuatro participantes les fueron asignados seis temas para fotografiar en South Beach sobre un periodo de cinco horas. Los temas: verde, salvaje, refrescante, caliente, estilo y solo en South Beach, se mantuvieron secretos hasta el día del evento y fueron resueltamente vagos para darle a los participantes amplio espacio para su expresión personal.
Las mejores fotos de cada tema fueron seleccionadas, y de esas el primer, segundo y tercer premio se les otorgó efectivo y otros premios. Las fotos ganadoras y hoja de contactos de todos los participantes se exhibieron en la galería de Tropicolor durante el mes de mayo.
La exhibición se inauguró con una recepción el 2 de mayo de 5 a 7 p.m., en la galería de Tropicolor, 1442 Alton Road, Miami Beach. Durante la recepción se le otorgó premios a los siguientes ganadores:
Primer lugar, Alissa Christine, $250, además una cámara digital Pentax Optio
Segundo Lugar, Edgardo de lo Espriella, $200
Tercer lugar, Johnny Cope, $150
Hubo tres menciones honoríficas; Carlos Miller, Cody Kirschner y Alissa Christine.
Todos los ganadores recibieron un regalo de Starbucks y su foto ampliada y montada en plexiglás cortesía de Tropicolor.
Agradecemos a Ginny Dixon del Miami Ad School y a Scott Weber de Barry University por servir de jurado con sus conocimientos y experiencia.

I really enjoyed myself.....I am a novice photographer, but did not feel too terribly nervous about the event. I can not make it back over to SoBe (from Sarasota) for the May festivities but I am sure you will all have a fantastic time sharing many laughs and stories about the photo marathon.

Hi Guys, it was so nice seeing you on Sunday and participating again. I hated all my pictures (of course) but loved just being out there and shooting, I decided that next year I am taking pictures that I would actually hang on my walls and go from there.

I am Johnnie Cope, the 3rd place winner of the Photomarathon. What an incredible experience! I have a great passion for photography and have taken many photos through the years. I have never studied or have any type of training in photography. Hopefully this will inspire and show others like me to get out of your comfort zone and take some chances - you never know. A quote I posted on my computer a few months ago says it all, " You cannot imagine the life you denied yourself".
